Dr. Newman Visit

We had a visit from Dr. Newman today and he talked to the kids about being respectful, working hard, having good behavior and being good listeners. We hope this visit has a positive effect on our students. The letter of the week is "B" and the color is Yellow. In writing we talked about punctuation (.,!,?) and about Capital Letters. Tomorrow is picture day. We get to go first thing, bring your smiles!

Science

We started science today. Our first science unit is about the four seasons. Today was an overview and we will start learning about each season one at a time. We will learn how the weather effects people and what we wear and the activities that we do. We will also talk about how the weather effects plants and animals. Our new cheer word today was "once".

Action and Consequences

We started the day today going on a BIG school bus and practiced evacuation in the event of an emergency. This bus drill is mandatory every year. In math we talked about shapes again and prepared some "shape pieces" for up coming lessons. We also practiced writing the number "3". At the end of the day we read the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears and talked about cause and effect and how actions cause consequences. The students finished up the lesson by making puppets of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They took them home so you can have them practice retelling the story. If you have the book at home read it again!

Personal Space!

Today we had our first Physical Education class. We learned about personal space and that we take it with us everywhere we go. Help your child learn that they should respect others personal space by keeping their hands and body to themselves. In writing we practiced the upper and lower case "P". We also came up with words starting with "P" and listened for the sound of "P" at the beginning or the ending of words. In math we continued to talk about things that are alike and different. We compared a circle to a cylinder naming characteristics that were the same and different. We also met our Third grade buddies today in Mr. Romanowski's class!

Mrs. Kasner's Class Goes Full Day!

The letter of the week is letter "D" and the color we are learning about is green. We also made our first shape person Mr. Longworth the rectangle. Today was our first trip to the library! The kids learned how to check out a book and how to treat a book they take home, no books in the bath tub!
Please remember to return them to school by Tuesday. We also had our first assembly today that explained our gift wrap fundraiser. Your child was to asked to put the packet in the refrigerator so that you would find it...just in case you were wondering why they did that? We also completed our first art project today, the students learned about lines and made a caterpillar using different types of lines. Ask them to show you different types of lines around the room! Wow what a busy day we had!
